In Her Own Words Grace Kelly. Katherine Hepburn. Sandra Bullock. These are just some examples of strong women who are comfortable in their own skin. And strong women like them fascinate me. I am inspired to capture the beauty and complexity of today's women in my designs. Women can be warm or cold, confident or vulnerable, serious or silly depending on the situation. The metals used in my pieces demonstrate these qualities: yellow gold being warm and vulnerable while sterling silver being cold and confident. The contrast in the use of the metals is sometimes subtle, other times clearly visible, just like how a woman wants to express herself and her feelings at different times. And just like how femininity and masculinity strike a perfect balance in a strong woman, I want the same to be true with my jewelry. I hope to show that contrasting qualities and materials can be put together to form unified and beautiful designs. And I truly believe that beauty comes from within. Women don't need to be loud and obnoxious to be noticeable. My jewelry has the same quality--understated without being big and flashy. I want to be able to communicate my views about women through my jewelry. I want my jewelry to represent its wearer. I want women to be able to relate to my jewelry on a personal level. |
